Reading Byrne's post about The Bridge reminded me of this New Yorker article about the huge number of suicides off of the Golden Gate Bridge. Every time I ride over the bridge, the stories in this article freak me out. The creepiest story is about the World War I veteran who stops all of a sudden, turns to a strange, tells the man that "this is as far as [he] goes," and then jumps.
